Proposed Action

The City and Borough of Juneau Docks and Harbors Department, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for construction of a two-lane boat launch and related facilities at Statter Harbor in Auke Bay, near Juneau, Alaska. The Draft EA has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act; Clean Water Act; Clean Air Act; Coastal Zone Management Act; National Historic Preservation Act; Magnuson-Stevens Act; Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act; Endangered Species Act; and Executive Orders 11990 Protection of Wetlands, 11988 Floodplain Management, 11593 Historic Preservation, and 12898 Environmental Justice. The EA presents a full range of alternatives that were developed as a result of comments received during scoping. Seven of the nine alternatives were dismissed from analysis for either not being feasible to build, or not meeting the project’s intended purpose and need. Two were carried forward as the Proposed Action and the No-Action Alternative for detailed analysis.

The Proposed Action includes the following activities:
